Gather 'round the open fire for Chimneyside Chats - a monthly feature with holiday stories from our favorite artists. See what's in their stockings this year as they reminisce on Christmas memories, share their favorite recipe and more! Here's what singer/songwriter Gina Brooklyn had to say:

Thanks so much for having me, and for the opportunity to speak about my new single “Winter”!

This song is very close to my heart- a combination of things I love about the holiday/winter season. To me, winter itself has always felt peaceful and calming. Living in Ohio, the season is always beautiful, cold and very snowy! We’re blessed to be able to experience every season nature has to offer. And although it can be annoying sometimes, I think we take it for granted - deep down I absolutely love it!

As I started writing this song, I pictured snow outside my window, sprinkling down like it always does. I began to think about the season, especially the unity and peace it seems to bring around every year. During the holidays, the world is a little bit brighter, kinder and more hopeful. There isn’t much fighting, anger or hatred. I genuinely wish it was like that all the time!

The winter season is a wonderful time of year for so many. Families get together, big meals are made, the weather is hectic and crazily stunning at the same time, decorations are everywhere, kids are full of wonder, people are celebrating so many different things - there’s so much to the whole season and it’s fun to look at it all so subjectively and objectively. This season means something to everyone! And that’s what I wanted to encapsulate in “Winter”- peace within the music, and unity within the lyrics!

Being Catholic, I truly love all the songs about Christ because that’s what Christmas and winter, to me, is all about! That being said, this time around, I wanted to write a song that everyone could enjoy and listen to! I’m so incredibly grateful for all of the support I’ve received so far, and I’m so excited to be able to celebrate with everyone wherever they are, through their speaker(s) of course!

I hope each and everyone of you who reads this has a wonderful winter (or should I say, holiday, hehe) season!
