Gather 'round the open fire for Chimneyside Chats - a monthly feature with holiday stories from our favorite artists. See what's in their stockings this year as they reminisce on Christmas memories, share their favorite recipe and more! Here's what singer/songwriter Vanessa Silberman had to say:

The best Christmas gift I ever received was an electric guitar from my mom a few years ago. I was pretty surprised! Mind you, this is the same mom who always said, "Turn down the music" or "You're playing too loud" back when I was in grade school, middle school and high school.

Only after years of me playing, living in LA, then living on the road touring and always being gone did I get this gift...I think she finally came to fully understand my absolute insane obsession and love for music! She has never been crazy about really loud rock music and always preferred calm music so the gift really said a lot and I think it's one of the most meaningful things I own.

Though she didn't like loud music when I was younger, we did both find a common love for Enya, John Lennon and Joni Mitchell as well as the Christmas song Silent Night.
