One of the first songs I ever wrote was a Christmas song.
I wrote it as a gift for my mother when I was 12, and it’s titled “Remember Christmas” because it’s basically just me reminiscing on all that my 12-year-old self found beautiful about this time of year.
Even now, at 20, everything in that song reigns incredibly true to me. Perhaps even more so. I remember my mom always threatening to “cancel Christmas” or not put up the tree for one reason or another (even though she always did and loves the holidays more than anyone). I guess I sort of wrote it for her as both a gift and a somewhat reminder of how grateful I was for the memories surrounding Christmas. “Remember Christmas”‘ is a song I hold so dear to my heart. It just feels like home.
